DIDs Forums are monthly events for networking and discussion of current events and topics relating to special districts and their needs.

Towny Anderson,  HistoriCorps® Executive Director, will provide background on HB-1311, the Colorado Job Creation & Main Street Revitalization Act, signed by the governor on May 14, 2014, and the Act's intent to stimulate rehabilitation of historic buildings in both urban and rural historic districts and communities.  He will also provide statistics and information regarding  the program’s progress toward meeting this duel intent two-and- a-half  years into the program.

Barbara Stocklin-Steely, principal with Square Moon Solutions, a historic preservation consulting firm, will explain how the tax credit program works,  provide example projects, and give tips for to communities, local organizations, developers and property owners wanting to take advantage of the state historic preservation tax credit program in an effort to revitalize older buildings and communities in Colorado.

Their shared goals for this presentation are to demystify the use of historic tax credits, demonstrate their power as a tool for economic development, and empower local non-profit organizations to become community development leaders by using this tool (yes, non-profits can utilize the historic tax credits, too!).
