Downtown Institute: Telling Monument's Story

  • 07/19/2018
  • 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM
  • Tri-Lakes Chamber, Monument

Program Description: On July 19, 2018 the Downtown Colorado, Inc. Downtown Institute will provide a half-day workshop focused on Telling the Monument Story with Wayfinding and Engagement. The session will start with an introduction and build the themed discussion into a variety of directions to help your community develop a stronger strategy. The dynamic format will include educational presentations, information sharing, and interactive discussion around the following focus areas:

  • Purpose and Process for Pop Ups: Downtown Colorado, Inc. (DCI) is partnering with Yes Plan Do, Radian Inc., and the Monument Downtown Stakeholders to consider the benefits of test projects around bike and pedestrian connectivity in the downtown. Pop ups, often called “Tactical Urbanism” refer to low-cost, temporary changes to the built environment intended to improve local neighborhoods and gathering places. Join us as we consider the purpose and process of quick, low-cost, temporary installations that engage stakeholders in creating a vision for downtown.
  • Wayfinding and Connection to Tell Your Story: As virtual connections become the standard, communities must strive to create real connections to maintain thriving places for people and commerce. Our Wayfinding and Connection track will dive into the ideas, programs, and case studies to help establish and lasting connections downtown.
  • Projects to Paint the Town: Creating a community project for a  bike path or an intersection painting project doesn’t have to cost a lot in dollars or brain damage.  Consider how to take ideas to implementation, plan the costs, engage the talent, and activate your people.
  • Art Hop: Participants are invited to stay and play in Downtown Monument at the Art Hop event featuring local artists and performers on the street and in the downtown stores. Come party Downtown Monument Style!
