IN THE GAME, A VIBRANT DOWNTOWN EVENT (APRIL)
The DCI Annual Event, IN THE GAME, is a unique four-day opportunity to get fired up about being a DO-er! One of the main highlights of IN THE GAME is our Challenge Studio sessions, a component of our signature program, the Challenge Colorado Accelerator Program. This intensive two-day workshop is designed to transform unique and difficult community challenges and problems into promising plans with implementation. Participants work alongside leading industry experts and statewide peers to brainstorm and create strategic solutions for selected communities.
Additionally, DCI's Downtown Excellence Awards have recognized outstanding projects and people in Colorado who demonstrate creativity in the face of challenges, unlikely and enduring partnerships and dedication to the community to further downtown initiatives. We celebrate these nominees and winners with a dinner during the event.
The IN THE GAME Event features many activities to keep all types of participants learning and connecting, including:
- DCI's Annual Meeting
- DCI's Districts Committee Annual Dinner
- DCI's Urban Renewal Annual Dinner
- Dine-Around Lunches + Tours

METRO MOBILE TOUR (Fall)
Many Colorado communities are curious about districts and authorities that can focus on redevelopment, reuse, and place management in your community's downtown or commercial areas. Business Improvement Districts (BIDs), Downtown Development Authorities (DDAs), and Urban Renewal Authorities (URAs) represent some of the tools available to help municipalities implement the vision through public-private partnerships. What are the differences between these tools, how are they formed and governed, and how do they work? Could this be a tool to help with downtown development in your town?
Why sit in a conference room to learn when you can hit the road and tour some projects?!
In 2024, we will be visiting the Metro Area.
